Rationale of the programme

In the context of globalization and for the need to develop and sustain a flourishing knowledge economy, educationists can perhaps play the most pivotal role in any society. There has always been a dearth of academicians in the field of education studies who understand the dynamics and significance of educational research and development. Hence, keeping in view the evident need of the hour, SBBU is more than proud to introduce a research oriented M. Phil Social Sciences/Education programme that primarily aims at developing research skills among students.

This programme is designed to prepare and promote scholars, academicians and professionals in the field of Social Sciences /education while fostering critical awareness and instilling conceptual intelligibility of educational debates, theories and research. We at SBBU believe that this programme will provide an opportunity of professional growth to the scholars in general and in service personnel in particular.

Program Objectives

Through M.Phil Program Social Sciences/Education students will be enabled to:

  • Capacity building of philosophical, theoretical, ideological, and originality interface with research and to identify and understand the major philosophical and methodological issues arising within.
  • Evaluate the historical evaluation of Social science with special context of paradigm of research.
  • Comprehend and equip researchers with statistics-concept, its types, and skills required for generation and interpretation of data.
  • Evaluate and implement the qualitative and quantitative approaches of research and address the dilemma of social sciences effectively.
  • Develop ethics industry scholars.
